Q: How does this work?
A: Our research team sources qualified professionals that might be willing and able to speak with our clients on a number of topics, across industry verticals. We reached out to you to gauge your interest and availability; you’d then fill out a brief registration form, which will include a biographical summary of your career. We’ll present these to our clients, and they’ll select folks with whom they wish to have a 30–60 minute telephone conversation, generally within ten days. We’ll notify you if you’ve been selected, schedule a call at your convenience, and compensate you at the rate you’ve determined.

Q: This may be a conflict of interest with my employer.
A: Tribeca Insights is committed to your company and our clients’ right to licit, legal information. Our clients are interested in industry insight, and not private, confidential or sensitive information. If you are uncomfortable at any point during your consultation, it’s your prerogative to end the call and to report the incident to Tribeca Insights. If you have any doubts or concerns as to your eligibility, TI encourages you to speak with your manager or Human Resources Department.

Q: How does payment work?
A: Because Tribeca Insights works with experts from all over the world, we can compensate you through a number of vehicles, including PayPal, wire transfer and check. After completing a call, log in to our system to submit an invoice. Tribeca Insights will issue payment within one to two weeks. Experts provide their own rate between $100-$500 per hour. Clients do take your rate and your level of experience into consideration when selecting consultants (so it’s best if they roughly align)—but you’re welcome to use your own discretion to determine your rate. Payment for consultations are taxed only if a Knowledge receives over $600 in fees per year.

Q: I’m busy; how much time do I need to commit?
A: We are not seeking to recruit you for a permanent or part-time job, and will respect your relationship with your current employer to the fullest when scheduling a consultation, should you agree to participate. We understand that our Knowledge Leaders—consulting from all over the world—have extremely busy schedules. All calls are scheduled at your convenience, and will generally last no more than 60 minutes at a time. Occasionally, a client will request regular conversations with an expert. If you are unwilling or unavailable to participate at any point, you may opt out of the Knowledge Leader Forum by contacting us.

Q: Sounds too good to be true. How do I know this isn’t a fraud?
A: Tribeca Insights (and any other legitimate expert network) will never ask you for money or payment to participate. Additionally, we’re happy to provide you references from actively consulting experts within our Knowledge Leader Forum. Just drop us a line.

Q: OK, I’m sold. What do I need to do?

  1. Register. Completing some brief biographical information will help our clients best assess your suitability for the project at hand. If you need some tips for penning a bio with bite, check out our blog for help.
  2. Review our compliance and confidentiality guide, and complete the short quiz. This will help to ensure that all parties are adhering to their respective confidentiality policies.
  3. Accept the project. This will give Tribeca Insights license to pass your information onto our client for consideration.
  4. Know someone else who’d be a good fit? Refer a qualified friend or colleague through the button on your project page.
And that’s it! Tribeca Insights will contact you typically within ten days of your registration if you’ve been selected for a consultation.
